Our Retirees 2018
Our love for horses must go beyond emotions,
it must lead to pro active action.

Retiring With Dignity
At Sonrise Quarter Horses we deal in the Four R Horses; horses that are in need of Re-Training, Rescue, Re-Homing and Retirement.
This information packet addresses the last “R”…..Retirement.
Our mission is to provide owners who feel they must retire their horses enough information to make a good decision. Should retirement be the final choice, we hope you will consider our ranch as a viable solution.
Our purpose with EQUINE RETIREMENT is to provide a place where older horses can receive the tender love and care they so richly deserve. We provide the basics of elder horse care, a low stress atmosphere, socializing, shelter from the elements and good nutrition. A total care package that will give you peace of mind and heart. Your horse will be treated with the same loving care and dignity we provide our own horses.
At present our program is currently taking horses 18 years of age or older.
We are upgrading our present program and will shortly posting the new information. A small booklet is available - ask for Retiring With Dignity through our Contact Form. We will be more than happy to send you one via email..

Retiring With Dignity - Son Rise Quarter Horses
One thing we have discovered is that it takes on the average of one year for a horse to fully aclimatize to being a retired horse in a different herd, on different feed, in a different environment and climate. Some horses do better than others the first year. Much like people horses all deal with retirement differently. Add to this the reason they are being retired be it injury or age.
Some testimonials.....
I'm glad she's at your ranch though, it is a lovely life for her, much better than being in a wee paddock here
Thank you so much for all this care, you are amazing.

We have noted it is coming up to a full year that you have been caring for our three horses so we need to say how very pleased we are with your horse retirement care program. In addition we just heard back from Lori Richards who recently visited your ranch. She was our horse sitter prior to retiring BJ, Kylos and Mocha to your place. She too was extremely pleased to find the three in such good spirits. In reflection, should anyone wish to hear from your clients, we would be more than pleased to provide any reference or help in expressing our appreciation for having the ability to retire our horses to a wonderful place for their last years. Sincerely, Earl and Charlene
